Here Chickie, Chickie, Chickie...

After 8 weeks the chicks were old enough to transfer to the outdoor coop and chicken run. We had to manually put them into the coop each night to train them how to go into the coop on their own, After a few modifications to the ladder leading to the hen house they successfully entered the coop on their own.

Daily we go out to the run and sit with the chickens to keep them used to human interaction.
If you sit inside the chicken run you will always get a friendly visitor that thinks you are a perfect place to roost!
There are 10 nests in the coop but only 2 get used! Girls always like a friend close by.

Chickens love table scraps, but their very favorite snack is watermelon and cantaloupe rinds.
Just hanging out by the coop door.

All the hens are very friendly no matter who comes into their pen.

Even chickens have calling cards. Obviously she didn't want to get down off his shoulder. When Mike when to put her down she didn't want to leave his shoulder and this is how she let him know. This is the thanks Mike gets for all his hard labor in raising them.
